A bionic hand that can feel

I found this brilliant article on news.discovery.com. A bionic hand which is under devlopment which connects directly to the nervous system and could allow amputees the return of dexterity and sensation. If you would like to read more on this article please visit http://news.discovery.com/tech/robotics/touchy-feeling-bionic-hand-130221.htm.

Anton from Christchurch making models for great cause.

This is very inspirational. A Model maker/ design and sign-writer, Anton Evans from Christchurch, creates giant model castles in order to raise money for the Children's Trust at Tadworth in Surrey. After suffering from a growth-limiting genetic condition called Morquio's Syndrome, which causes painful bone deformity, Anton went to Tadworth for operations followed by long periods of rehabilitation an intensive physiotherapy programme to learn to walk again after months of being encased in a full body plaster cast when he was younger. Anton, who visited Tadworth to meet the fund-raising team came up with the idea of using his model castles to help with funding, because Tadworth needs to raise around £5 million a year to meet the running costs. Please Check out the Thisisdorset website for more information.

3D Drawing Pen

This is incredible. A pen that allows you to draw in 3D without needing specialist equipment. It works by plugging it into a power socket and as you draw; plastic comes from the pen and an integrated fan cools the plastic making it solidify. This is brilliant as it allows you to draw on any surface. I hope they are released in the UK and are cheap enough to purchase as I really want one! Would absolutely change the way people create ideas and drawings meaning people are free to be more creative being able to see their design develop in 3D right in front of them.

I found some of this information from: http://www.forbes.com/sites/jenniferhicks/2013/02/20/get-ready-to-doodle-with-the-first-3d-drawing-pen/ and youtube.

Check this website

On facebook I came across this posted by a Merlin fan type page. I think it is a great website and I especially love this behind the scenes look at how Merlin scenes were created. It's good to see the tricks you would never normally get to see.

Teenagers & Students | Being Dyslexic

Teenagers & Students | Being Dyslexic

I know, not really inspirational but I wish I had these tips while at college and university. This website is great with lot's of helpful information and is really positive rather than looking at the negatives of a situation. So take a look and I hope this helps.

From Desperation to Inspiration | Being Dyslexic

From Desperation to Inspiration | Being Dyslexic

It is really inspirational to see people writing about others with dyslexia. Peter Simmons really helped his friend who had dyslexia and was very supportive. By telling his friend about a program on tv he changed his friends life. I feel this is a very inspiring article and definately inspires me to think more positive of my situation. Thankyou Peter!

USB wall sockets

I think every home should have these. With everything having USB chargers will we need plugs? Plugs are bulky, yet USB's are small and easier to store. Hopefully when this concept is developed it will be affordable and available in England. We shall see yet whether they catch on.

China’s ‘3D Fast Bus’ Straddles the Road

Love this idea to combat congestion in Beijing. I came across this while at uni and thought it was really smart how instead of making more traffic by being road level, it just goes over the top of vehicles travelling on the roads and acts much like a train crossed with a bus. I hope it works, and although the cost willbe huge to put a system like this in place I think it would make a huge difference to any congested roads.

Penguin Cam-spy in the huddle

The technology these days is incredible, I happened to be watching the Alan Titchmarsh show and saw that BBC 1 have a program which is called Penguins - Spy in the Huddle, It is an excellent example of how cameras and models can be used to get footage you would never get in the wild otherwise and with cameras getting smaller and technology getting more advanced, soon we could be making robot animals which have the same characterists as the real animals.

Is this too intrusive though, and should they have privacy? I think perhaps it could go too far, and the poor animals will think they are to realistic that they don't know the difference. I think maybe they should stick to rocks perhaps, but still I was very impressed with the technology and hopefully the penguins will be happy too.
