Hello there

Hi,

Sorry it has been a while, it became rather busy last week.

I started volunteering with OYAP trust, which is great and I really enjoyed the two sessions I attended and canot wait to go again.

I also had an interview with a place in Bicester, which I am waiting for a reply on whether they would like to take me on or not, so we shall see.

I also started creating more blogs and bits and bobs, so here are some links to those;

and some of my old pages;
Some aren't great, but have a look anyway and send me some feedback,

Thankyou,

Kirsty

3D mouse

While I'm talking about a 3D design packages, I thought I would also show you this device. There are a number of these devices about, visit this website for more options: http://www.microconcepts.co.uk/products/3d_mice/
Below is information on these products from the website. I think these are great products and leaves your computer mouse free for other things.

'What is a 3D Mouse?

Anatomy of a 3D Navigation Device
The key to all 3D navigation devices is the controller cap. Pressure sensing technology allows the cap to become a virtual extension of you. Push, pull, twist or tilt the cap a fraction of inch to simultaneously pan, zoom and rotate 3D imagery. Increase pressure to go fast or decrease pressure to make intricate adjustments.

Why use a 3D navigation device instead of a mouse?
The key advantage of a 3D navigation device over a mouse and keyboard is the ease of performing intricate adjustments to camera views and models. Using mouse and keyboard require separate steps, increasing clicks and interruptions, to perform all three maneuvers . Our devices are typically used in the non-dominant hand, freeing the mouse to access commands and objects within the interface.
If you are interested in purchasing any of our 3D Mice or would like further information please contact our sales team: email sales@microconcepts.co.uk or phone 01223 716200'

This information was obtained from http://www.microconcepts.co.uk/products/3d_mice/  and is not my own information, please visit the website above for more information on these products.

Autodesk Inventor Fusion

Just thought I would share this 3D design program. Autodesk Inventor fusion is a fantastic 3D design program which many use within industry. My boyfriend arranged last friday to meet with his friend a 3D designer who works for himself. I was really interested to find out what sort of programs he uses and what sort of companies he would be designing things for. It was great! He showed us Autodesk Inventor, and some of the key features he uses to create 3D components. I was a little puzzled on why they did not introduce this design program to us at university. It has several different design modes and also includes an integrated motion simulation and assembly stress analysis environment, which is great when designing something which doesn't already exist as you can provide this information to your client and improve on the design.

Inventor uses specific file formats for parts, assemblies, and drawing views. Files can be imported or exported in DWG format. Design Web Format (DWF) is Autodesk’s preferred 2D/3D data interchange and review format.

It's a must have design program for CAD designers especially within engineering based design, and Autocad Inventor does come at a cost of around £1,500.00 (unless you are a student in which case you can obtain a free copy of inventor fusion via filling in a form). You then can pay for updates which makes sure every year you have the latest versions meaning you have even more features. I know this sounds like a lot of money, but it's well worth the investment as you soon make this kind of money by designing components for different companies.

If you need more info please check out the Autocad website: http://store.autodesk.co.uk/store/adsk/en_GB/pd/ThemeID.25705700/productID.251722700
There is plenty of information online, I hope this artical helped.

A bionic hand that can feel

I found this brilliant article on news.discovery.com. A bionic hand which is under devlopment which connects directly to the nervous system and could allow amputees the return of dexterity and sensation. If you would like to read more on this article please visit http://news.discovery.com/tech/robotics/touchy-feeling-bionic-hand-130221.htm.

Anton from Christchurch making models for great cause.

This is very inspirational. A Model maker/ design and sign-writer, Anton Evans from Christchurch, creates giant model castles in order to raise money for the Children's Trust at Tadworth in Surrey. After suffering from a growth-limiting genetic condition called Morquio's Syndrome, which causes painful bone deformity, Anton went to Tadworth for operations followed by long periods of rehabilitation an intensive physiotherapy programme to learn to walk again after months of being encased in a full body plaster cast when he was younger. Anton, who visited Tadworth to meet the fund-raising team came up with the idea of using his model castles to help with funding, because Tadworth needs to raise around £5 million a year to meet the running costs. Please Check out the Thisisdorset website for more information.

3D Drawing Pen

This is incredible. A pen that allows you to draw in 3D without needing specialist equipment. It works by plugging it into a power socket and as you draw; plastic comes from the pen and an integrated fan cools the plastic making it solidify. This is brilliant as it allows you to draw on any surface. I hope they are released in the UK and are cheap enough to purchase as I really want one! Would absolutely change the way people create ideas and drawings meaning people are free to be more creative being able to see their design develop in 3D right in front of them.

I found some of this information from: http://www.forbes.com/sites/jenniferhicks/2013/02/20/get-ready-to-doodle-with-the-first-3d-drawing-pen/ and youtube.

http://www.3dworldmag.com/2012/05/02/fun-technology-worlds-first-chocolate-printer/

Check this out, while browsing www.3dworldmag.com I came across this 3D printer with a difference. This 3D printer prints chocolate! I think this excellent for chocolate lovers and I hope to see some really interesting chocolaty printed sculptures. Wouldn't a Eiffel Tower look brilliant!
